Prepare
As we prepare to meet with our King, the Sovereign One over all, take a few moments to quiet your mind, to relax your breathing and to center your intention on gazing on the beauty and majesty of God.
As you inhale, repeat to yourself: “More of You.”
And as you exhale, repeat “Less of me”
More of You
Less of Me
This week we’ve been examining and casting away the anxiety that sometimes lingers beneath the surface. And while it is GOOD to bring our concerns before the feet of Jesus, sometimes the BEST antidote to worry is a sweet time of worship. Taking our eyes off our circumstances and troubles and uncertainty and putting them on the One who never changes, the One who holds everything together, the One who is worthy of all our praise.
So that is what we are going to do today. We’ll be reading slowly from Psalm 145, taking some pauses within the readings for you to express your worship and praise in your own words.
Read
Psalm 145
I will exalt you, my God and King,
and praise your name forever and ever.
2 I will praise you every day;
yes, I will praise you forever.
3 Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure his greatness.
4 Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts;
let them proclaim your power.
5 I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor
and your wonderful miracles.
6 Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue;
I will proclaim your greatness.
7 Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy about your righteousness.
The Lord is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
9 The Lord is good to everyone.
He showers compassion on all his creation.
10 All of your works will thank you, Lord,
and your faithful followers will praise you.
11 They will speak of the glory of your kingdom;
they will give examples of your power.
12 They will tell about your mighty deeds
and about the majesty and glory of your reign.
13 For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
You rule throughout all generations.
The Lord always keeps his promises;
he is gracious in all he does.
14 The Lord helps the fallen
and lifts those bent beneath their loads.
15 The eyes of all look to you in hope;
you give them their food as they need it.
16 When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness.
18 The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.
19 He grants the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
20 The Lord protects all those who love him,
but he destroys the wicked.
21 I will praise the Lord,
and may everyone on earth bless his holy name
forever and ever.
Listen & Reflect
How have you seen God’s hand in your life through the generations of your family or community?
What awe-inspiring deeds have you witnessed?
Spend a few moments telling God how great and mighty He is and meditating on his majestic, glorious splendor.
Has the Lord been good to you? Tell him about it.
Where have you witnessed God’s compassion and mercy in your life? Where have you seen it in this last week?
Spend a few moments telling God how good he is and expressing your love and adoration to him.
Have you experienced God’s kindness in moments when you’ve fallen down or carried a heavy burden?
How has God satisfied your deepest hunger?
Where have you experienced the closeness of the Lord? If you’re feeling distant now, call out to him.
How have you seen God grant you the desires of your heart?
Where have you seen His protection over your life, your reputation, your family, your peace?
Spend another few moments praising God and thanking him for the many blessings in your life. Pour out your praise upon him…let your worship be a sweet fragrance that blesses the Lord’s heart today.
Pray
Heavenly Father,
I come before You with a heart full of praise. You are my King and my God, and I will bless Your name forever and ever. You are so good—better than I can even begin to understand. Every day, You show up with love, kindness, and grace, and honestly, I don’t always stop to recognize it. But right now, I do.
You are great, Lord. Your love is bigger than I can wrap my mind around. The world around me—every sunset, every breath, every act of kindness—is proof of Your goodness. And even when life feels heavy, I know You are still faithful. You never change.
You’re patient with me, even when I mess up. You’re kind, even when I don’t deserve it. You lift me up when I feel like I’m falling apart. You hear me when I call, and You never turn away.
So today, I just want to say thank You. Thank You for being who You are. Thank You for never giving up on me. Satisfy my soul with Your presence. Open my eyes to see Your hand at work in my life. May my lips always speak of Your kindness, and may my heart remain steadfast in worship. Let my life be a testimony to Your unending mercy and love.
I love You, Lord. Keep my heart close to Yours.
Amen.
