We are all being formed by something…and let’s be honest, an hour or two on Sundays just isn’t enough time to combat all the subversive ways that we are being shaped into the image of the things of this world. For that reason, we’ve curated and cultivated some tools to help you grow beyond the couple hours you are on campus (or watching online) each week. It’s our prayer that you would used these tools to be shaped more and more into the likeness of Christ!
Cultivate • As You Go…
As we ground ourselves in the Great Commission and take its call seriously, we want to make sure we start from the best place…covered in prayer. Every powerful movement of God has been ushered in through humble commitment to prayer by God’s faithful people. At New Life, we believe that God’s grace goes before us, preparing our hearts to hear from Him and be shaped by Him. Many of us have testimony of people who prayed for us before we knew Him. So let’s be those pray-ers for others! Here’s how we are cultivating our “sent-ness” this season…
Pray for 5
Focus your prayers this season on 5 people in your life who don’t yet know Jesus. You can pick up a card on Sundays to write their names on and put it somewhere that will remind you to pray for them often.
Before prayers…
Before you go to bed and before you do anything else in the morning (even pick up your phone!) PRAY! Download the app and turn on notifications to receive daily prayer prompts & reminders. To make sure you’ve got notifications turned on: In the app tap on the person icon in the top right corner and make sure you’re logged in. Then click on the gear icon in the top right. Click on notification categories and make sure “all church” is black. (you can check other categories as well). We will send one push notification through the app at 7pm each day with the prayer for the evening as well as the morning.
Cultivate
This week’s commissioning:
As you go…
may you go slowly—not racing through life, but keeping pace with the Spirit. Drive the speed limit. Pause before you post. Examine your heart before you scroll. Love the Lord your God—in the quiet morning moments, in your spending habits, and in your search history. Love others—by listening before speaking, sharing before hoarding, forgive before frustration. Practice your faith— not only in the sanctuary, but in the grocery store, the group text, the dinner table, and even your monthly budget. Live within your means, breathe before you react, and remember: the goal isn’t to be impressive— it’s to be faithful. Just as the Father sent Jesus, so now Jesus sends you:
to reach the lost, and to reflect the kingdom. Not to hurry, but to carry peace. Not to fix everyone, but to love them well. Not to be perfect, but to be present.
Go in grace.
Go in peace.
Amen.
