Flourish Updates

Updated august 8th

campaign Update

  • Deferred maintenance -As buildings across our campus age, there was a growing need to address key maintenance projects that were beyond the scope of our operating budget. This was the impetus for the Flourish campaign and continues to be our primary focus.
    • We’ve created a 10-year plan to address the deferred maintenance and have completed a few big projects already, including a new roof and HVAC system in the Worship Center.
  • Ministry expansion and Campus layout -We identified this as a major area of opportunity in order to facilitate the discipleship opportunities the Lord continues to present to us.  We also know it’s critical that when guest arrive at New Life, they have visual cues that tell them where to start and a more intuitive path of travel. And so we have addressed issues with our campus layout.
    • We’re focused on 3 spaces in 3 phases. Phase 1 is a redesign of the Life Center, which is our most used venue. We’re revamping the storage area on the north end of the building to give us efficient access to much needed storage space. We’re also adding an entrance to the Life Center from the patio, including stairs that will take you down into the main meeting space. This will reduce the need to walk our kids all the way around the building to enter the space. There will also be enhanced facades at the entrances which will create clear visuals showing where to enter the building. Phase 2 will be a transformation of our current offices into a welcome center. This will solve two problems. First is when new visitors park, the exterior facade (which will match the Life Center), will be a very obvious visual cue that this is the place they start. The welcome center will also give us some much needed mid-sized space for groups. Phase 3 is a major project, transforming the parsonage (did you know we also have a home on the north end of our property!?) into a multi-purpose space for offices and mid-sized meeting spaces. We’re still in early design stages on this phase, but it’s exciting to think about how God could use a space that is currently very rarely used due to its condition and accessibility issues.
  • Missions – And finally, our heartbeat is to see the kingdom of God come on the Central Coast, and around the world. We see everything we do through a missional lens, so it was important that we integrate that into the Flourish campaign. We’ve committed to giving 10% of whatever we raise through the Flourish campaign to partner with local and global organizations. We are currently partnering with two global ministries; Open Arms Children’s Center and Outreach in Mexico, and our newest partners, Josiah Ventures in Ukraine. Our Students recently spent a week in Mexico at Open Arms and we will be sending an Adult team in the Spring. Our partnership with Josiah Ventures is just beginning and we will be releasing detail soon.

Building Progress

In light of the funds raised so far, we have restructured the phases of the Flourish Campaign to focus on the most immediate priorities while building sustainable momentum.
Phase One will now center on:
  • The development of the Life Center as a multi-functional space for ministry, outreach, and connection. This includes significant storage enhancements and redesigning entryways on both sides of the building.
  • Addressing critical deferred maintenance to protect our facilities and ensure safe, effective ministry spaces.
Phase Two will focus on:
  • Restoring and improving the Parking Lot for safety and accessibility.
  • Developing a Welcome Center out of the current Main Office building to create a warm and inviting first impression for members and guests.
These adjustments allow us to address key needs without overextending our resources.

Local Mission support – We are committing to dedicate 10% of funds raised through this Flourish Initiative to establish new missions partnerships. At this time, $10,000 of the donations received have been given to “17 Strong”, Read about this organization below:

      • Our local mission partner is 17 Strong. Their mission is to provide Victory Trips® to young adults, ages 18-40, after they have battled a life-threatening illness. A ‘Victory Trip®’ is a vacation or experience allowing the recovering patient and a companion time to recuperate and reset while fulfilling a lifelong dream. This organization specifically sponsors a memorial victory trip in honor of Pastor Ron Salsbury, who previously pastored New Life Church. The gift we shared will be used to fund that Memorial Victory Trip this year.

Building Progress

We are currently reviewing bids for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and roof replacement options and preparing the final redesign on Life Center.

We have already walked with (4) HVAC subcontractors and will be sending them the phasing of the project. Also, we walked with (1) Roofing subcontractor and reached out to a second. Looking to invite one more so we have competitive proposals.

The entire roof will be removed, and new shingles will be installed. During the roofing process, we will work with our HVAC Sub to schedule them to remove and install 4 new equipment’s located within the attic which is considered to be Phase 1 out of 3.
