Wisdom for Everyday Life
Over the next 8 weeks we’ll be searching for God’s wisdom that helps us to live our everyday lives! This series combines the practical faith described by Jesus’ own half brother James with the foundation of wisdom found in Proverbs and also mixing in Jesus’ own words of wisdom found in the Sermon on the Mount.
In addition to services on Sundays, we are encouraging kids to read the Bible on their own and journal some of what they are learning.
Each week, we’ll have 3 days of Bible reading. Ideally, you’ll do this on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but it can be done any days throughout the week. In addition to reading, you’ll be challenged to journal some thoughts, learnings, and even prayers. Here are the steps we recommend to journal:
STEP 1: Write the date
STEP 2: Write out the selected verse(s)
STEP 3: Pray for God’s wisdom
STEP 4: Write a question or two that you have about these verses.
STEP 5: Write a statement that you learned from this reading.
STEP 6: If you want to, write out an answer to the journal prompt or write out a prayer to God.
We pray these next few weeks will be meaningful for you as you learn to read the Bible on your own and journal what you’re learning. In the words of James…If you want wisdom, ask for it…He wants to give it to you!
