Sanctification Not Legalism

As we talk about sanctification and being formed into the image of Christ, the temptation can rise up to drift into legalism; the idea that somehow my works sanctify me. Our own sanctification is too heavy a burden to bear. There's a reason why Jesus says, "My yoke is easy and my burden in light."

From Series: "The More Excellent Way"

When we think about “holiness” our minds often drift to what we will have to give up, sacrifice or chisel away in order to be holy as God has called us to be. However, what God asks us to surrender is always less than what he offers in return. Holiness, while it might seem costly at first; it is what leads to the fullness of LIFE. Allowing God to form us and shape us doesn’t rob us of joy, it restores it. It doesn’t restrict our freedoms, it releases us from bondage. The more excellent way of walking in step with the Spirit is what truly leads to a life marked by love, joy, and freedom.
