Listen and Pray through Psalm 32
Click the button below to listen and pray through this passage. This practice will take about 10 minutes.
Prepare
Throughout your day, there will be opportunities to hurry, to hustle, and to be productive. This is not that time. Today there will be interruptions and distractions, worries and conflict. But now, in this moment, we focus on the Lord and the invitation to enter his presence.
Take a moment to pause.
Let your shoulders drop.
Take a slow, deep breath in…
…and breathe out any tension, any distraction, any temptation to hurry this time along.
This time has been set apart. It’s sacred. This is time set apart not just to ask, but to listen and receive…time not just to think about you..but to be with you. Quiet my mind. Soften my heart. Let my soul be still in Your presence.
Read
Psalm 32
Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight!
2 Yes, what joy for those
whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt,
whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
3 When I refused to confess my sin,
my body wasted away,
and I groaned all day long.
4 Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.
My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude
5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude
6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time,
that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
7 For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule
that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
10 Many sorrows come to the wicked,
but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.
11 So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!
Listen & Reflect
Pause for another moment and listen a little deeper. What do you want me to hear today Lord?
Unconfessed sin isn’t only damaging to our souls, it’s quite literally toxic to our bodies. Have you been carrying around a heavy burden of sin? Have you allowed little thoughts to turn into bigger ideas and grow into something you feel no longer in control of? That is too heavy a burden to carry. It’s time to give it over to the one strong enough to do something about it.
Spend a few moments in humble confession before the Lord.
Don’t be afraid.
This is not about shame.
This is about freedom.
If something comes to mind, simply tell God:
“Here it is, Lord. I give it to You.”
Breathe in His mercy.
Breathe out the burden.
Isn’t there joy and freedom in being able to live in complete honesty with the one who knows you and loves you best? Spend a moment or two thanking God for his mercy and forgiveness. Let him bolster you with the knowledge that you’ve been cleared of guilt and can walk forward today in lightness and honesty. Let a prayer of thankfulness rise up within you.
Where do you need some guidance, wisdom or direction today? Talk to God about it and listen, pay attention to that still small voice that may be nudging you today.
Let this verse repeat in your heart:
“You surround me with songs of victory.”
Picture that—God surrounding you like a warm, safe shelter.
His voice singing over you—not in judgment, but in joy.
Pray
Father,
Oh, what joy—real, deep, soul-cleansing joy—
to know that my sins are forgiven,
that the weight of my guilt is lifted,
and that You don’t count my failures against me.
You’ve covered it all in grace.
You are my hiding place, God—
a safe place when life feels too loud,
a steady place when storms come close.
You surround me with songs of deliverance,
reminding me that I am not alone and never forgotten.
So today, I rejoice in You.
I lift my heart to You.
Thank You for Your forgiveness,
Your guidance,
and Your never-ending grace.
Amen.
Before you take this time of prayer into your day…be reminded of this: You are redeemed, renewed, and surrounded by songs of victory today!
