Advent Day 4

6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. – 2 Corinthians 4:6-9 NIV

On Day 3 of Darkness then Light we acknowledged that not everyone feels joyous at Christmas. In fact, there may be circumstances that keep our hearts especially dark and cloudy during the holidays. 2 Corinthians 4:6-9 explains that although God made His light shine in our hearts, we are just “clay jars” that experience difficulties of many kinds. However, for every difficulty, God has a “but not”. If you, or someone you care about, has the Christmas Cloud overshadowing you, look for the “but not” that God will apply to your circumstance. Remember Christmas isn’t a feeling, it is a fact, and so is our home in heaven promised through Jesus’ resurrection. You aren’t home yet, but when you are there will be no clouds, just celebration.
