Dixon Smith

Small Groups Pastor

Dixon joined the Pastoral team in January 2010. He has a passion to see people embrace Jesus and find joy and fulfillment in living for Him. Previously, he served as an associate pastor overseeing outreach, discipleship, and equipping. He is excited about getting people connected and growing as disciples. He loves to encourage people to use their passions and spiritual gifts to serve others and become active witnesses of Jesus’ love in our community and world.

Before being called into pastoral ministry, Dixon received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from U.C. Santa Barbara and worked as a consulting engineer for 15 years. God lead him to pastoral ministry in 1997 and Dixon obtained his Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000. Dixon has been part of the leadership teams of the local Gideon’s International and has been past Chairman of the Board at Lifeline/Choices PRC.

Dixon has been married since 1998 to Edon, whom he met in church through ministry and a small group bible study. Edon is currently active in children’s ministry now that she is retired from her career in finance and law. They have two daughters. As of spring 2017 Christina Joy is 9 years old and Jessica Grace is 8 years old. They are currently a licensed Resource Family Agency (as emergency care Foster Parents) and are active in a county-wide, faith-based effort to raise up other much needed resource families.

Dixon enjoys short-term mission trips, golf, giving, cycling, Bible studies, and even occasional beekeeping. Outside of the church, you might run into Dixon in a local coffee shop, or with his family on a beach in Kona, at Disneyland, or Doc Bernstein’s Ice Cream shop (yes, it all happened with New Life family!).

His favorite verse is Hebrews 10:24,25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
