BRIGHTEN A CORNER (www.brightenacorner.com)
Brighten A Corner Ministry helps people who face extraordinary or overwhelming circumstances in practical and tangible ways. Created in 2002, it has completed many projects, served dozens of people, with hundreds of volunteers and a total value of service estimated at over $100,000. They can’t cure cancer, or eliminate physical or emotional handicaps, but maybe they can help lighten the load–if only for a short while.
CAPTIVE HEARTS (www.captivehearts.org)
Captive Hearts is dedicated to responding to the unique needs of women prisoners to provide rehabilitative services to better facilitate a successful return to their families and their communities. They strive to help women get out of the criminal justice system and to stay out of the system by addressing the underlying causes that lead to incarceration.
ASSOCIATION OF AMPUTEE SURFERS (www.ampsurf.org)
The Association of Amputee Surfers is a non-profit organization made up of amputees, those related to amputees, and those who work with amputees and others with disabilities. They want toPromote,Inspire,Educate, andRehabilitate (PIER) those with disabilities, especially our veteran heros, through Adaptive Surfing and other fun safe outdoor activities. They help those with disabilities achieve their goals and provide feedback to medical staff, therapists, and manufactures of prosthetic devices for enhancing design and performance of prosthetic equipment in sports and everyday life.
SOUTH COUNTY PEOPLE’S KITCHEN
People’s Kitchen has provided hot meals for the homeless and working poor of the Five Cities area for more than 18 years. The current location is on 946 Rockaway Ave, Grover Beach .
Founded by William Booth in 1865, The Salvation Army is an international organization that meets the physical and spiritual needs of people in 111 countries around the globe, and in more than 1,400 communities across America without discrimination. The Salvation Army provides assistance to those in need 365 days a year and assists more than 31 million individuals throughout the year in the United States – almost 5 million of those during the holiday season alone.
