Meet our Lead Pastor
We are excited to announce that David Hutsko was affirmed by an overwhelming majority of the membership and has accepted the Lead Pastor position at New Life.
Here are a few questions and answers to help you get to know Pastor David.
A MESSAGE FROM DAVID
From the moment God prompted Dana and me to meet with the search committee, we have been praying that God would bring the right person to love you, serve you, and join you in following Jesus. I admit, I was surprised when God opened doors for us to walk through. Our journey began as an act of obedience. Were we willing to go wherever God would lead us? Were we willing to leave behind the comfort of the known for a God-sized calling into the unknown? As we found ourselves interceding for you and pursuing God’s direction for us, He began to bring an affection for you and an excitement for me to serve as your Lead Pastor.
Meeting with your search team felt less like an interview process and more like God knitting two hearts together. Their willingness to be led by the Holy Spirit gave me greater insight into the heart of New Life. As I pondered how God was moving, I was reminded of a passage God used to shape my heart years ago, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Now I am excited about becoming a part of the story God has been writing through New Life. Pastor Ron’s willingness to be led by “Faith Not Fear” has been woven into the fabric of New Life. Building on this legacy, we have the opportunity to pray and think deeply about our calling as The Church and to discover opportunities to live out the ministry and mission of Jesus in our community and around the world. By pursuing the heart of The King, we will know how to creatively advance His Kingdom.
Several months ago I began studying Colossians. I was drawn to Paul’s opening prayer. In hindsight I now know why God captured my attention with these words. As you prayerfully consider our family joining yours, know that I am praying this passage over you.
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:9-14).
Dana and my love for you grows daily. We eagerly anticipate the conversations, times of prayer, ministry, hugs, and laughter we believe God will use to connect our lives with yours. We look forward to the privilege of leading you and serving with you as we seek God and serve others together.
