Online Giving FAQ's
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS CAN I USE?
You may make contributions using electronic funds transfer from your bank account, or make payments from your debit or credit card.
IS ONLINE GIVING SECURE?
Due to an increase in identity theft the credit card associations (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) have developed a security standard to protect cardholder data. It is called the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Our system uses secure technology provided by the Bluepay gateway and Nations Transaction Service. The system is PCI DSS compliant with website identity assurance through Comdo.
WHAT DOES IT COST FOR ME TO USE THIS FEATURE?
There is no cost to you to use online giving. However, the church does incur costs associated with it. When you use automatic transfers, the transaction fees are low, about what it costs for us to process a check. When you use a credit card or debit card, the church pays a percentage of approximately 2%. In effect, the church will be paying for any benefits (e.g., cash back, airline miles) you receive.
CAN I SET UP RECURRING CONTRIBUTIONS?
Yes, you may set up regular contributions for weekly, every two weeks, monthly, or quarterly gifts. Using your ID and password, you will be able to log in to your account and change the amount, the frequency, or cancel your contributions.
HOW CAN I GET A COPY OF MY CONTRIBUTION RECORD?
To make regular contributions online, you will need to obtain a login and password for our system. Once you receive your login and password, you be able to check your contribution record online and print out a contrition record for tax purposes.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER GIVING ONLINE?
God wants us to learn to excel in the grace of giving as in every other spiritual endeavor:
“But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving” (2 Corinthians 8:7).
One of the ways we do that is through the discipline of regular giving:
“Now about the collection for God’s people. . . . On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income” (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
Paul’s guideline includes giving that is regular and proportional. One method that can help you do this is automatic giving online. Our church uses a system where you can set up regular gifts weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc. It is an easy way to become “disciplined” in the matter of giving.
