The New Life worship band is a group of dedicated, passionate volunteers that serve the body through the medium of music.

As much as musical competence is a bottom-line necessity, New Life is primarily looking for men and women who have a heart to worship God and be unified in spirit and purpose. It’s important that worship team members are able to follow the direction of the worship/band leader, be willing to make the appropriate effort to prepare musically, retain memory of arrangements, and also pray for God’s presence and blessing over our church’s worship of Him. Again, from our perspective, worship is about offering all that we are, with discernment, in order to bless God and others.

If you are interested in getting involved or just have questions, email dkrovious@newlifepismo.com and express your interest. Your life will never be the same. And neither will the child's. Maybe you sense God's leading to bless the life of a child who needs companionship from a loving Christian adult or perhaps you are a single parent who is concerned over the lack of a father or mother figure in your child's life. Whatever the case. Mentoring Ministry can help.

How much time is involved?
Quality time, spent consistently with a child, is more important than quantity. As a mentor, you will be encouraged to contact your child at least once a week by phone or visit.

What safeguards does the ministry provide?
Before becoming a mentor, adults must pass a rigorous screening process including fingerprinting and a thorough background check. A four-hour training course is required. Each mentor and child's family are in regular contact with a mentoring ministry member.

What kinds of activities are involved?
There are some child safety guidelines to follow, but within those parameters, an adult mentor and child can choose activities that would be mutually enjoyable. Some examples include everyday activities like going to the beach, hiking, playing sports, going to the movies, helping with school work, visiting the children's museum, washing the car, volunteering in the community, or just hanging out.

How are matches made?
Ministry members interview potential mentors and children to determine compatibility between both parties. Matches are made only after the unanimous agreement of all people involved: mentor, parent, child, and ministry member.

To contact the Mentoring Ministry, click here or call Bob Bowen at (805) 929-8577.

"You are helper to the fatherless." When I became a Christian 15 years ago God fulfilled that desire by sending me to Hancock College where they have a wonderful needlework program. I didn't realize it at the time, but God had a plan. When God had blessed me with the gift of needlework, I felt an overwhelming desire to get his word out through the blankets that I was making for friends and family. I wanted them to fill the same kind of joy that I felt in knowing our Savior. So I started making little tags that read, "You are Precious in Gods Sight," or" In a Babies Happiness You Can See Gods Smile" or "God Loves You" and tying them on the packages that I would give to them. During this same time, he had me delivering for Meals on Wheels which brought me great joy. I spent 3 years there and loved every minute of it. I met a lot of wonderful people including the staff, people just out of surgery, elderly shut ins, and people with illnesses.

One day when I was looking through one of my hobby catalogs, I came across a pattern for lap blankets. I thought "WOW," that would be great for people who have to be in Wheel chairs. Maybe I could make one and give it to the care team to give out. Then I thought, they see so many people one lap blanket wouldn't be enough. I then heard that still small voice say, "You need more people." It startled me and I realized what God was calling me to do. Immediately, I started arguing with him. Lord, I'm not a leader, I'm a follower. Then I thought, they see so many people one lap blanket wouldn't be enough. I then heard that still small voice say, "You need more people." It startled me and I realized what God was calling me to do. Immediately, I started arguing with him. Lord, I'm not a leader, I'm a follower.

Did you know that It doesn't do any good to argue with God? I decided to be obedient and I want you to know that God knew me better than I knew myself, because I can't tell you enough what this ministry means to me. Looking back on my life, I now see that God was preparing me for the blanket ministry. He taught me how to do needlework, He had me working with people who were ill and lost and now he wanted me to bless them with beautiful handmade blankets. The Lord called me into this ministry in 2002 and blessed me with Gloria in 2003. Gloria's enthusiasm and great love for the Lord has inspired me and she has been a tremendous asset to this ministry.

New Life Community Church and Grace Bible Church have joined together and have been distributing these handmade blankets through out our community in order to reach out to people who are in need of encouragement and to let them know there is hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. We currently give to such organizations as Normal life of California, [for the disabled], Social Services, [for abused children], The Salvation Army, [for the homeless, elderly shut ins, and disadvantaged pregnant women], Babyline, {for new babies at Grace church}, New babies at New Life Church, Lifeline, Choices, Arroyo Grande Hospital, Casa De Vida, Home bound, Area Police Departments, E.O.C., Family Care Network, and many others.

We have been blessed with many beautiful testimonies that mean so much and touch our hearts in this ministry. We get together on Wednesday mornings where many hours and a lot of love go into making crocheted, knitted, and quilted, blankets, hats, and booties. We also hand make labels that are sewn on to the blankets and then put into beautiful gift bags that are prayed over and then taken to that special person. Working as a team with these incredibly gifted women has been a complete blessing to us. It is awesome to see the love of the Lord working in each and every one of them. The Lord has completely provided for every need we have come across and it is absolutely incredible what he has done in this ministry.
God continues to keep his promises.

If you have also been blessed with the gift of needlework, I hope you will be encouraged to come and join us for some fun and fellowship. I am very excited about what God has already accomplished in this ministry, and what his plans are for the future. May God Bless You!:)
2010-09-05 18:19:03Doll Ministryhttp://www.newlifepismo.com/index.php?id=243
Every Tuesday morning from 9am until noon, something very special happens. Fifteen to twenty women gather to pray, have fellowship and create hundreds of beautiful dolls to share with children all over the world. Naomi Luby and this dedicated group of doll makers have made over 600 dolls a year for almost ten years. Over 50 women have participated in this ministry. Five have been with the Doll Makers from the beginning.

In December 1998 Pastor Ron spoke about the men of New Life making toys for the children of the Inner City Church in Los Angeles. The Lord spoke to Naomi and said you could make dolls for them. She started making “Raggedy Ann” type soft dolls. At the Ladies Bible Study in January, 5 ladies signed up to help make dolls. With donated sewing machines the Doll Makers were underway. Some women couldn’t sew, so they stuffed the dolls. Others sew cloths. Some paint faces or made curly wigs. One lady has been the official “dresser” of the dolls.

Until 2008 they met at Naomi’s home in what is known as “Nannies Attic”. With: 10 – 12 sewing machines, material of all kinds, thread and more thread, rickrack, old sweaters for making doll wigs, tables, chairs and most of all, the grandest ladies in the world, the Doll Makers, that made hundreds and hundreds of dolls, bears, puppies and bunnies. In the middle of 2008 “Nannies Attic” moved to “Pat’s Cellar” in the home of Pat and Ron O’Rielly.

This is a ministry where the ladies pray and encourage each other, celebrate birthdays together and enjoy fellowship. “God blesses us beyond imagination” is often heard. The ladies pray over the dolls that the children who receive them will be blessed and come to know the love of Jesus.

Although they seldom see the children that receive the dolls, they do get many heart warming reports. Over 8,000 dolls have been given away as of July 2009. The following is a list where the dolls have traveled.

Local Hospitals – Arroyo Grande, French, Sierra Vista – Pediatrics and Emergency
Social Services Department in Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach
Police Departments – Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo – Carried in cruisers.
Battered Women Shelters in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo – Lifeline and Choices
S.A.R.T. in San Luis – Casa De Vista – Peoples Kitchen – HMS New York Mission Trip
Los Angeles Inner City Church – Captive Heart – Youth Mission in Mexico (many times)
Katrina Projects in Louisiana & Mississippi – Uganda – Kenya – Peru – Micronesia
Morocco – Costa Rica – South Africa – Tibet – Mongolia – India – Kazakhstan
Ukraine – Guatemala – Ecuador

2010-09-07 00:26:51New Life Art Showhttp://www.newlifepismo.com/index.php?id=216
The "New Life Art Show" features the work of local artists displayed in our Church Lobby. Painting railings, tearing out walls, setting tile, constructing cabinets, placing drywall are just samples of the types of work done by this team. Every session begins with a time of prayer and ends with a lunch, so this is a great way to meet some other people while making a great contribution to New Life.
