Story Behind the Book

After years of writing and teaching on the theme “God owns everything,” in 1990 Randy Alcorn was sued by an abortion clinic (for peaceful, nonviolent intervention for the unborn). Suddenly he had to resign as a pastor and was restricted to making minimum wage. Legally unable to own anything, Randy gave all his book royalties to missions work and need-meeting ministries. He and his family have experienced the reality of The Treasure Principle—that God really does own everything, takes care of us, and graciously puts assets into our hands that we might have the joy and privilege of investing in what will last for eternity.

Lord, Teach Me to Pray in 28 Days
Kay Arthur A new cover and additional questions for study and discussion grace this bestselling 28–day study (more than 525,000 copies sold) by respected teacher and author Kay Arthur. Readers of little or great prayer experience will discover practical insights to help them know how to pray, what to pray, and what to expect when they pray.

Arthur sheds light on the instructions Jesus gave to His disciples for the perfect pattern of meaningful prayer and demonstrates how the Lord’s Prayer covers worship, praise, intercession, and petition and ushers an individual into the presence of God.

This look at biblical prayer is refreshingly simple and exceedingly powerful—and it can transform the way anyone lives and prays. Ideal for individual or group study, and a classic resource for any home or church library.

In his brief letter to the Philippians, Paul will show you too how to live joyfully in every situation.
Experiencing the Spirit: The Power of Pentecost Every Day
Henry Blackaby, Mel Blackaby The first Christians “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6) shaking the gates of hell even in the face of severe persecution. The result: People all around “were filled with wonder and amazement” (Acts 3:10).What can give Christians today the same impact?

God’s Holy Spirit is ready to answer that for us in an awesome way, as Henry Blackaby and his son Mel Blackaby make clear in Experiencing the Spirit. You’ll see how the proof of the Spirit’s presence is our awareness of God’s personal assignments for us, plus our supernatural enablement to carry out those assignments. You’ll find essential clarification on the difference between natural talents and spiritual gifts. You’ll explore the dynamics of being filled with the Spirit through intimate relationship with Him, committed obedience, and radical departure from sin.

Instead of considering what you can do for God with your abilities and talents, you’ll be encouraged here to seek what God wants to do through you supernaturally by His Spirit, empowering you beyond your personal competence and capacities. Release the Holy Spirit’s work at the very core of your experience of the Christian life – as He releases you to serve God as never before.

We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts—it's falling in love with God.

The Crazy Love Study Resource helps you and your small group to dive deeper into God's love. A companion to the best-selling Crazy Love book, by pastor Francis Chan, this 10-week study follows a day-in-the-life of Francis in the form of ten, 10-minute segments that correspond to each chapter of Crazy Love.  These thought-provoking teachings are designed spark discussion, interaction, and practical application of the Crazy Love message with small groups, churches, youth groups, and individuals.

Forgotten God: Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit
Francis Chan A follow up to the profound message of Crazy Love, Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and … the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it.

Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church’s power—the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.

Offering a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives the workbook is designed to initiate and facilitate both individual study, and small group discussion, interaction and practical application of the message of Forgotten God.   The workbook will stand alone, or can be used alongside the Forgotten God DVD Study Resource. Be TRANSFORMED
Sharon Dutra Have you ever wondered if there is 'more to your life'? As human beings, we go through life experiencing hope, dreams, thoughts, failures, sorrow, regrets, expectations, disappointment, and a host of other thoughts and feelings. Sometimes, we look at our lives and wish that we could have done more. Or, we may wish that we would have stayed still longer. And others of us have lived through so much suffering, we believe it's all we can do to survive from one minute to the next. This book is one of HOPE. It's a collection of topics that relate to the practical issues we face every day. Subjects like Anxiety, Disciplining our Children, Forgiveness, and Guilt are among the chapters. The Star of the book is Jesus Christ. But before you turn your interest away, you might want to open the pages and take a look. Even if you aren't a Christian, there is a wellspring of information and wisdom for your life's problems. I have witnessed hundreds of people that say they have tried self-help books and support groups. They have refrained from their addictions, and have gone to great lengths to try to change their thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors. But most often, they go right back their old thoughts, habits, and ways of life. Others have tried money, looks, material gain, power, education, sex, and relationships to make themselves 'happy'. But I find that a great majority of them are dissatisfied and disillusioned. While it may sound too good to be true, I am here to tell you from my own experience that you really can have true and lasting peace, joy, love, hope, and stability in life. Pick up your copy today. You might just be surprised! 

Beginning in Christ Together
Brett Eastman, Dee Eastman, Todd Wendorff, Denise Wendorff, Karen Lee-Thorp The heart of Christianity is not a ritual or a structure, but a Person—-Jesus Christ. But even as his followers, our vision of Jesus can get muddied by man-made theories of who he was. Whether you're a seasoned believer or a brand new Christian, come walk in the footsteps of his first disciples to see him afresh: as Teacher, Healer, Shepherd, Servant, Savior, and Risen Lord. These six sessions lay the foundation for radical discipleship as our hearts are once again captured by who he is. Experiencing Christ Together helps your group explore the five biblical purposes that make up a high-impact Christian life —-fellowship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism, and worship. Jesus perfectly lived out God's purposes for his life, and he taught his followers how to do the same. As you walk in the footsteps of those first disciples by listening to and watching Jesus through these studies, you and your group will be transformed. One small group leader put it this way: 'The Experiencing Christ Together series has motivated me more than any other Bible study that I have ever been to. This Bible study gets to the heart of the matter—-my character in Christ—-and that has created action on my part.'

What a super foundation' 'I felt reassured about my lifelong beliefs' 'I've never learned and unlearned so much.' 'I thought I knew about the Bible and God. So, Help Me God is split into three sections as the model for approaching change: The Preparation for Change: choosing the right method and partnering with God to select the areas in need of change in your life. The Process of Change: exploring the biblical method of saying 'no' to sinful patterns and 'yes' to the things God desires for you. The Power to Change: explaining how to experience the power of God personally and continuously. This is a book about a different you. There are no warm fuzzies within these pages. Rather, MacDonald is a direct, to-the-point pastor with a heart for seeing lives completely transformed by the truth of the Gospel. If you're serious about changing your life, I Really Want to Change ... So, Help Me God is just what you need.

When the Game Is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box Participant's Guide: Six Sessions on Living Life in the Light of Eternity
John Ortberg Today is the day you choose . . . . . . which game you want to win. . . . which prize you want to collect. . . . which priorities you want to set. It's a thrill to win at checkers or Clue or Trivial Pursuit. You sweep aside the other players and you 'own' the board. It's also a thrill to win a promotion at work ... the new house you wanted ... that sports car you've always eyed. But just like the game cards, the tokens, and the timer, those prizes are temporary. When the game is over, they all go back in the box. Games can cast a powerful spell, says bestselling author John Ortberg. But the wisest player remembers that the game is always going to end. So what can we take with us to the kingdom of God? Only the love we have for Christ, the love we have for each other, and our own souls. While it's not bad to be good at chess or Risk—-or the game of life on earth—-we can't allow it to get in the way of what really matters. Using his humor and his genius for storytelling, Ortberg helps you focus on the real rules of the game and how to set your priorities. When the Game Is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box DVD and participant's guide help explain how, left to our own devices, we tend to seek out worldly things, mistakenly thinking they will bring us fulfillment. But everything on Earth belongs to God. Everything we 'own' is just on loan. And what pleases God is often 180 degrees from what we may think is important. In the six sessions you will learn how to: * Live passionately and boldly * Learn how to be active players in the game that pleases God * Find your true mission and offer your best * Fill each square on the board with what matters most * Seek the richness of being instead of the richness of having You can't beat the house, notes Ortberg. We're playing our game of life on a giant board called a calendar. Time will always run out, so it's a good thing to live a life that delights your Creator. When everything goes back in the box, you'll have made what is temporary a servant to what is eternal, and you'll leave this life knowing you've achieved the only victory that matters.

Sacred Marriage: What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy
Gary Thomas Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust him more fully, and love him more deeply. Scores of books have been written that offer guidance for building the marriage of your dreams. But what if God's primary intent for your marriage isn't to make you happy. . . but holy? And what if your relationship isn't as much about you and your spouse as it is about you and God?

Everything about your marriage—everything—is filled with prophetic potential, with the capacity for discovering and revealing Christ's character. The respect you accord your partner; the forgiveness you humbly seek and graciously extend; the ecstasy, awe, and sheer fun of lovemaking; the history you and your spouse build with one another—in these and other facets of your marriage, Sacred Marriage uncovers the mystery of God's overarching purpose. This book may very well alter profoundly the contours of your marriage. It will most certainly change you.

Because whether it is delightful or difficult, your marriage can become a doorway to a closer walk with God, and to a spiritual integrity that, like salt, seasons the world around you with the savor of Christ.

Listening for God through James
Various Lectio Divina, Latin for divine reading, is a series of Bible studies that calls Christians to slow down, read Scripture, meditate on it, and prayerfully respond as they ""listen to God"" through His Word.

During Jesus' public ministry, younger brother James seems to have been a doubter (John 7:5). Yet the resurrected Christ appeared especially to this brother, and James was among the believers as they gather in the upper room in Acts 2. So, at some point, James became a true spiritual brother of his earthly brother.

The content in the book of James is focused on the practical, day-to-day living out of the example of Jesus, in word and in deed. One key theme is that the little sins we consider more acceptable (like gossip, jealousy, favoritism, and hoarding wealth) are as ugly in God's eyes as the biggies.

Its instructions have everything to do with how true believers - then and now - live as Christ-followers in the real world.

BE READY
The Wiersbe Bible Study Series: Philippians: Even When Things Go Wrong, You Can Have Joy
Warren W. Wiersbe A Trusted Resource for Your Study of God’s Word

Unlock the treasure of the “joy epistle,” which pinpoints the joy-stealers in life and shows why you don’t need to be anxious. Like us, the believers at Philippi needed to understand what it means to be joyful in Christ, no matter what the circumstances may be. However, God wants us to discover the secret of true joy and contentment by living in His will.

Written in a personal, easy-to-understand style, join Dr. Warren Wiersbe, trusted pastor and respected Bible teacher, as he leads you on a journey to opening your mind and heart to the riches of God in the Wiersbe Bible Study Series.
Be Resolute
Warren W. Wiersbe We've all heard the phrase: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. What about faith? Will your faith thrive in tough times? Do you desire a more resolute faith?

The book of Daniel relates the familiar Sunday School stories of the lions' den, the fiery furnace, and some remarkable prophecies, but take some time to investigate these stories more closely. How did Daniel, Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego possess such a fearless faith? Perhaps no one in the Bible possessed a more resolute faith in God than these individuals. Daniel and his peers never took the easy way out, but stood their ground, even in face of death.

There's a lot to be learned from Daniel about unshakable faith. Study this extraordinary Old Testament book.  Even more importantly, apply what you learn as respected Bible teacher Warren Wiersbe unfolds both the explicit and implicit teachings to lead you to a more resolute faith.
Be Ready
Warren W. Wiersbe Experience eternity. Today.  During His life and ministry, Christ assured the apostles that He would one day return for His people. But how should this future event affect our lives today? In Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, he reveals that the promise of Christ’s return is more than a doctrine of our faith. It is a remarkable truth that can shape how we live, how we connect, and how we view ministry.   Part of Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe’s best-selling “BE” commentary series, BE Ready has now been updated with study questions and a new introduction by Ken Baugh. A respected pastor and Bible teacher, Dr. Wiersbe balances the prophetic with the practical, and shares how Christ’s powerful promise can impact every aspect of life. So be encouraged. Be revived. And BE Ready.

He foreshadowed the fact that he was going to be 'broken' and 'poured out'—-he was going to take humanity's punishment for sin on himself. While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take and eat; this is my body.' Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.' Jesus warned his disciples that he would be with them only a little while longer. He went on to comfort his confused followers. 'Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.' Thomas said to him, 'Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?' Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.'
